**Short answer:** In LectorApp you log your reading in three steps: **add the book** (ISBN scanner, search or by hand), **update the page** you're on whenever you read and, when you finish, **mark it as finished and rate it**. The app works out the pages you added and adds them to your day, your streak and your statistics.

## Step 1: add the book

There are three ways to add a book, and each takes a few seconds:

- **ISBN scanner:** point at the barcode and confirm the pages.
- **Search:** type the title or the author and pick your edition.
- **By hand:** if it isn't listed, add the title, author, pages and a photo of the cover.

The detail of each method is in [adding books to LectorApp](https://lectorapp.es/en/features/add-books/).

## Step 2: update your page whenever you read

When you stop reading, open the book and enter the page you're on. LectorApp works out how many pages you added and adds them to the day's total.

You can log offline: it syncs when you're back online.

Every entry feeds the rest of the app:

- [Your streak](https://lectorapp.es/en/features/reading-streak/): every day with reading logged adds one.
- [Your daily goal](https://lectorapp.es/en/features/daily-reading-goal/): the bar fills with the pages you add.
- [Your statistics](https://lectorapp.es/en/features/reading-statistics/): pages and books per day, week and month.
- [Your monthly recap](https://lectorapp.es/en/features/monthly-reading-recap/): what you read this month compared with the last.

## Step 3: finish the book and rate it

When you reach the last page, mark the book as finished and score it with ten stars and by category. It moves to Finished reads with its cover and your rating.

## Tips to log without effort

- **Log right when you stop reading,** with the book still in your hand: that's when you remember the page.
- **Set a small goal** (for example 10 pages): what matters is not breaking the streak.
- **Turn on a reminder** for your reading time: [this is how reminders work](https://lectorapp.es/en/features/reading-reminders/).

If you want to build the habit, read the [guide to building a reading habit](https://lectorapp.es/en/reading-habit/).
