How many books you read a year at your daily pages
Quick maths, with an average book of 300 pages:
| Pages per day | Pages per year | Books per year |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 3,650 | ≈ 12 |
| 15 | 5,475 | ≈ 18 |
| 20 | 7,300 | ≈ 24 |
| 30 | 10,950 | ≈ 36 |
| 50 | 18,250 | ≈ 61 |
Seven steps to build the habit
- Pick a goal that's almost too easy. Ten pages a day can be done even on bad days, and that's what builds the habit.
- Attach it to something you already do. With your coffee, on the commute or before bed: reading at the same time removes the decision.
- Keep the book within reach. If it's on your nightstand or in your bag you'll read it; if it's on a shelf you won't.
- Track it. What gets measured gets maintained: a fourteen-day streak makes you want to protect it more than any resolution.
- Never miss twice in a row. Missing one day is normal; what matters is coming back the next day.
- Use kind reminders. A notification that congratulates you once you've read motivates more than one that scolds you.
- Review your month. Looking at how many pages and books you added, and sharing it with someone, reminds you why it's worth it.

Frequently asked questions
How many pages a day should I read?
As many as you can do even on a bad day. To start, 10 to 20 pages a day: that's about 12 to 24 books of 300 pages a year.
How long does it take to build a reading habit?
There's no magic number. A well-known University College London study found that forming a habit took 66 days on average, with a range of 18 to 254. What helps is repeating it daily without worrying about a deadline.
What if I skip a day?
Come back the next day. One missed day doesn't break the habit; missing two in a row is what usually turns it into giving up.
Which app helps me read more?
Any reading tracker with streaks and goals helps. LectorApp combines a daily streak, a page goal, positive reminders and a monthly recap, with no ads.
